I'm new to sailing, and am on the market to purchasing a sail boat. I'm looking at one that would need to be trailered to a club. Typically, are there people at the yacht clubs for hire to assist with installing the Mast, Rigging and launching a Keel boat? I'm think about DYC. Are there any good Web sites for learning good monthly and yearly maintenance of sail boats (ie checklists)? Thank you in Advance.

Hi Boatin' DYC is a DIY type club. There are also members at the club who do help on boat gear installation and repair work. On monthly and yearly maitenance checklists these same people can help you out on what you need. Also Sail magazine regularly publishes articles on boat maitenance and has a web site, and I also use Practical Sailor for info on boat parts, electronics, bottom paint etc. SeaHorse and Ocean Navigator are the other two magazines that make my "most useful" list.
The most popular boating web site, in the world besides this one is Sailing Anarchy. There are dozen of chat rooms on every boating subject imaginable on that site.
On the topic of purchasing a sailboat I have a neighbor with 4 of them in his yard for sail, err sale, all on trailers. If you want to follow that up, pm me.
DYC also has a Monday night sailing program for those just getting into the sport.

You mean people pay for help with installing sticks? Darn. I missed out on two paycheques today alone.
