This looks like a great new board for Halifax area sailors and I'm sure it will do quite well as time goes on.
I am very excited to be sailing in Halifax Harbour again as I consider myself to be one of those lucky Maritimers who has been able to move back home from Alberta.
Currently I own a CL 16 "Celtic Kiss" which I towed across the country and now keep my little "yacht" at Shearwater Yacht Club. After having been a volunteer with the Disabled Sailing Association of Alberta for the past decade I have also been getting quite involved with Sail Able Nova Scotia and am very enthusiastic about that project.
Right now I'm quite anxious for "fog season" to be over so I can truly enjoy sailing in Halifax Harbour Again.
Happy Sailing Everyone

Thanks Rob,
I'm very anxious to do some camping on McNab's when the ban is lifted and of course to get out into the approaches for some ocean sailing.

Rob,
Towed a CL16 from Calgary? More hair on ya!
I sailed on a couple of Wayfarers out of the Glenmore Sailing Club in Calgary and was actively involved in starting the DSAA when it was nothing but a room full of people wanting to go sailing. As you know, it became a fell fledged registered charitable society ( my wife and I did the paper work and registration for them and sat on the board). I'll bet we have some friends in common like Dale Keith and Steve Alvey. I helped to arrange the training of the volunteers, did alot of the on the water sail training and helped fund raise for the fleet of Martin 16's DSAA ultimately acquired. I have never done anythng sailing related that I enjoyed more than being involved with the DSAA.
On another note I am agitating to get Sail ABle to move to the DYC and would like to start a dinghy racing fleet at the club. If we could get 5 CL 16's and Wayfarer's on the line I'll give you a seperate start. There is an unfortunate local misconception that adults don't sail dinghies that I would like to see changed.

Brian: It sure is a small world indeed!! And yes I know Steve and Dale very well and have shared many beer with both of them. Dale introduced me to sailing on his Hobie 16 a few years ago too. The trap seat design is a great concept for helping mobility impaired people to sail a boat that is normally reserved for acrobats.
I ge the feeling that our paths will cross very soon.

Robert, I look forward to it. I'm glad to hear that Dale got his cat - we discussed what kind of boat would be good for him to use and I was an early cat advocate. I can't tell you how many times we picked him up and took him to the club abd helped launch a boat for him. The most satisfying day of sailing I ever had was after Dale took his first solo sail and we were back in the parking lot a the the top of the rise looking back to where he had been. " You know" he said, indicating the far side of the reservoir, " that's is as far as I have been away from this chair since my accident." I was choked. His appreciation made all of the effort we all put in to the DSSA worth it.
On another note we could add the Hunter 170 to the dinghy fleet, it rates similarly to the Wayfarer on Portsmouth.
